Anonymous: Did you graduate from college? Also, I believe that financial aid is not a right. We always have the option of saving money and paying our own way. Even if it means going to a local school and living at home.

Let’s see, the average household probably makes $60,000 with a SINGLE parent, before taxes. Let’s say one child is in college and one is in high school.

$60,000/year is about $5,000 a month BEFORE taxes. Now let’s take out health insurance, taxes; state and federal, plus social security. Now we’re at $3,730. Time to pay rent and bills plus feed my family AND provide for my child in college.

In college you probably can get a job that pays $10/hour PART TIME because you’re IN SCHOOL. $10/hr @ 15 hours a week = $150. Now, I just worked 15 hours just to pay for a book. Working 15 hours a week is $600/month. Work my way through school you say?

Average college education costs about $30,000/year. That’s $2,500 a month. We haven’t even calculated in food and housing for out of state kids. Let’s not forget there’s an extra fee for college if you weren’t born in the state that college is located in. It’s call an out-of-state tax (tuition). That you pay EVERY MONTH, it’s added on to your tuition. Now with food, housing and this state tax, school cost about $44,000/year. That is $3,666/month.

Who can earn almost $4,000/month while in college? Am I selling crystal meth to my professors? No.

Stay at home. Save some money you say. College still cost $30,000/year plus textbooks, projects, printing, bus passes or gas money. You’d still need to have at least $2,500/month to “pay” your way through school without financial aid which is bullshit anyways.

A degree cost about $15.60/hr at $30,000/year. Have you tried finding a job that would be willing to pay a student or new college grad even $13/hr??

You need to go find a job that will pay you $16.50/hr WHILE you’re in school. Work 40 hours a week and your “advice” will work. Good luck with that.

Don’t ever come in my inbox with some “financial aid” is not a right bullshit. We have to be in school for 16 fucking years, just to get a degree and scan groceries at Walmart. Cause our field isn’t hiring.

School wants $33,000/year from households that make $40,000. Get the fuck out my face with your 1977 Work your way through school politics.

Wooww students in US do suffer :/

Yes we do! It’s horrible.
